With a “left press” like this, who needs fascist media?

Mark Crispin Miller

It discomforts me to state it, however Caitlin Johnstone– whose work I utilized to promote ardently, defending her versus the crypto-Stalinists at Counterpunch– is one of lots of “leftists” who keep partying like it’s 2019.

Same with the interminable Noam Chomsky, The Country, Consortium News, MoveOn, Popular Resistance, Nation of Change, Covert Action Publication, Naomi Klein, Tom Engelhardt and others that I used to champion, and (in many cases) view as buddies, as well as outlets that I used to write for.

So Caitlin enjoys her boomer Dad for his irrepressible outrage over the bombing of Afghanistan, and enjoys ALL boomers for their intense dissidence– on concerns that don’t matter much at this apocalyptic minute.

From her, and all those other “progressive” voices/outlets, you ‘d never understand that World War III has been raging (freely) given that January 2020– a global war against mankind itself.

Someone should inform Caitlin– an Australian!– that those feisty boomers, with some really few exceptions, have actually turned rigidly authoritarian, and frequently totally hateful towards the bravest and most required dissidents today, standing firm against the bio-fascist requireds of the New World Order, and the looming portents of the Great Reset: risks that those “leftist” sages never even point out, much less concern or challenge.

While Caitlin, resident of Melbourne, riffs indignantly about the battle of Afghanistan back in 19 B.C. (Before COVID), the staunchest dissidents Down Under are the truck motorists threatening to shut that country down, if its cops don’t take their boots off everyone’s necks.

In the middle of this large slo-mo Holocaust, performed in the name of “public health” (much as the last one was), we discover no recommendation to it, nor any recommendation to the unprecedented worldwide wave of censorship on which that Holocaust depends, or to the naked violence of the police throughout the “democratic” West, or to the financial functions of this whole worldwide headache, in any of the “leftist” outlets named above.

Instead, we get “Ban Killer Drones,” “Why United States Policy in Nicaragua Isn’t Working,” “America’s Merchants of Death Then and Now” (with no reference of Big Pharma), “Surprise expenses of militarism: Environment modification, contamination and biodiversity loss,” and (my individual favorite) “Is a Cold War Still Possible in a Getting Too Hot World?”

My point is not that such well-worn concerns don’t matter anymore (though a few of them were overblown before the COVID crisis), however that they’re now being used by our “left” press to offer the misimpression that they’re actually on the left– working for peace, freedom, civil rights and financial fairness, constantly in the interests of the people over all– instead of blinding us to this unmatched worldwide drive to make those things difficult, and snuff the people out.
