Net Absolutely no by 2050? Here’s What It Takes To Get It

Here is what a fairly objective research study from the Geological Survey of Finland concludes on just how much more electricity generation will be required to retire natural gas and coal …

The response: a stink load!

However you need batteries to provide power when the sun isn’t shining and the wind isn’t blowing. Here is a sign of just how much materials would be needed to produce all these batteries:

We will not hold these quotes versus the author as there are a number of variables involved. However you get the standard point: there aren’t adequate materials on earth to achieve this dream. It’s a grand unreasonable misconception!

We wouldn’t worry about gas and coal being phased out just yet.

The Net Absolutely No is Just Plain Virtue Signaling.

What is virtue signaling? A type of ethical grandstanding in which a perspective or answer is calculated to “look good,” thereby making the object or speaker appear virtuous to others, instead of being picked since it is strictly honest.

The 2050 net zero story is virtue signaling in its purest sense. Here is a small excerpt from Kopernik Global Investors’ current report:

“It looks like essentially everyone from cities to countries to corporations is setting targets to reach “net-zero” emissions. Over 3,000 business and nations representing 89% of international emissions have actually “dedicated” to reaching net-zero.

We put the word “committed” in quotes since that commitment can imply extremely various things to different individuals. Even the United Arab Emirates recently declared a net-zero promise for the year 2050, but not prior to they increase oil and gas production by 20% initially. Let me be green … but not yet.

It is simple to make a pledge for someone else to meet 30 years from now. That is why virtually everybody is doing it. These are low barrier to entry virtues. If everyone can do it, it can’t be that hard. Regrettably, the problem is a lot more hard to resolve, and we might state, it is near difficult.

We can see how someone looking at the headings might assume that oil and gas are disappearing quickly. Virtually any paper, publication or news service has stories daily about environment change and the necessary energy shift. Anybody with a Bloomberg terminal is treated to an unlimited stream of short articles proselytizing for the new energy economy. Many treat the subject as a fait accompli, that since it requires to happen, that it will occur.

The problem with this is that it leads to beginning with a conclusion and then constructing models and projections on how that need to happen, disregarding how unlikely or tough it might be.”

Ah, such poetry!

Call us in 2050, and we’ll see what opinions are. Heck, by 2030, after inflation ripped folks’ lives apart, we want to wager that the hunger for this nonsensewill be gone. Farmers will have ripped these stupid cow burping (for saving us from environment modification) muzzles off, and anyone who champions such idiocy will be treated with the contempt and refuse they have actually constantly deserved.

Till then … well, we’ve a booming market in inflation to deal with.
