Woodworking Series: Developing Your Marketing Strategy

Just like any other form of business, woodworking will require use of the best marketing strategies if you want to reap good profits. Nowadays, plenty of people are advertising their business both online and offline, and there are various ways you can do both. Let’s begin with offline marketing strategies.

Offline marketing strategies have been around for quite a while. Before the dawn of computers and the internet, people would advertise their businesses through posters, fliers, newspaper advertisements, magazines, etc.. Despite what you may think, lots of people still read the paper (that includes the ad section). You need to tap into this resource.

It goes without saying that computers and the internet have radically changed how many people operate their businesses. Just like the offline strategies listed above, online marketing can also be conducted in multiple ways. You can easily set up your own blog and use it to inform people of your services, products, prices, specials, and anything else you want.

Forums are another great method. Forums tend to focus on one topic, hobby, or question, so it wouldn’t be hard to find one surrounding your niche. You’ll encounter experts, amateurs, and buyers interested in giving advice and maybe even purchasing some of your work.

Now, of all the online methods, your best bet is setting up your own website. Make sure you have enough SEO on your site to attract the right kind of traffic. More so, study up on the tried and true methods to drive traffic to your site.

A good marketing strategy is key to getting the customers that you want, so you have to be willing to buckle down and work hard. Know that each type of marketing, whether online or offline, will have its advantages. For instance, online advertising may be easier and cheaper. On the other hand, offline marketing has longer-lasting and physical value.
