Republican prospect for Michigan’s new Seventh Congressional District, state Sen. Tom Barrett (R-Charlotte), who will more than likely face off versus Democrat Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) in the midterm elections next year, told Breitbart News Saturday that being chosen to Congress would allow him to withstand President Joe Biden’s partisan agenda.
Barrett told host Matthew Boyle, Breitbart News’s Washington political editor, during his look on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday that he revealed he is running for Congress to put everything “on the line” and to ideally be elected to Congress where he will withstand Biden in Washington, DC, as he retires from the military after 21 years of service.

The Michigander said he lastly had enough after Biden’s “total failure in management” throughout the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan– which led to the loss of life of 13 servicemembers– and the administration’s vaccine required on the military, which he “definitely morally can not accept.”
Barrett said he continually defended specific rights and private liberties across the globe since joining the military his senior year of high school. The Republican politician stated after being in the military, he’s not going to mean specific rights and liberties being threatened in America. “I can’t fight Joe Biden as a helicopter pilot in the army here in Michigan. But I can combat him by going to Congress and standing up against his agenda there,” he discussed.
“I have actually put my whole adult life into the army, this isn’t something I did 3 weeks ago on an impulse, so that I might run for Congress, this has been my identity, and invest my life, it is actually something that I feel very passionately about,” Barrett said, about his choice to leave the military. “It didn’t come simple to state; I’m not going to do this anymore. This actually was something that was a psychological decision for me. … I can’t sit here and view what’s occurring and not do something about it. And that’s truly what motivated me to run” for Congress.

Barrett will more than likely face off in the midterms versus Slotkin, even though she has yet to reveal her candidacy for the district given that she currently represents Michigan’s Eighth Congressional District before the new congressional lines are completed due to redistricting occurring throughout the country.
Slotkin is a self-proclaimed moderate Democrat, although she has actually voted 96 percent of the time on major votes with Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on the Biden-Harris-Pelosi partisan program, which Barrett is seeking to stop.
The congresswoman, besides being reluctant at the time to criticize Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, has also elected the $1.2 trillion infrastructure costs– which was signed into law by Biden– in addition to the Biden’s “marquee legislation,” the $1.75 trillion Build Back Better Act, the Democrats’ reconciliation facilities bill.
Even though Slotkin, one of the most susceptible Democrats running for reelection next year, chose the expense– which the Congressional Budget Plan Workplace found would include billions to the American deficit– she claimed the expense was “not perfect.” Barrett stated everyone had actually felt the results of the costs, putting a struggle on working-class and middle-class families.
“Elissa Slotkin is not a moderate. She’s remained in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden this whole term, and we’re gon na call her out on that. It’s just not alright. And meanwhile, I’m a conservative. I never ever pretend to paint myself as a moderate,” he explained. “By dumping trillions more in costs is only going to make the situation worse, especially at a time where the administration is shutting down pipelines throughout America that’s causing absolutely huge boosts in energy and gasoline, home heating.”
