Most of us have lost count the number of times we’ve been stuck on the road in a long line of standstill traffic with no way out. While the delay is an inconvenience, it’s usually nothing more than that. We’re late to a meeting or to work, and we have no choice but to wait it out.
As colder weather begins to creep up on us, though, these disruptions quickly become more serious. Every year there are cases of tragic accidents (sometimes involving dozens of vehicles), hypothermia (and other weather-related injuries), and even people going missing in the chaos.
