Migrant Camp Drops to 9100 After Texas Closes Border Crossing in Del Rio

DEL RIO, Texas– The population of the migrant camp under the regional international bridge fell to simply over 9,100 after Texas DPS troopers and National Guardsmen efficiently closed border crossing points from Mexico. State authorities informed Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday they have efficiently closed the crossings near the migrant camp.

Texas Department of Public Security Southern Area Director Victor Escalon told Guv Abbott the efforts by troopers and National Guardsmen stopped the circulation of migrants across the Rio Grande into Del Rio. This allowed the Department of Homeland Security to get rid of sufficient migrants to reduce the population of the migrant camp under the international bridge.

currently approximated to be 9,137 as of Tuesday morning. This includes approximately 6,728 family, 1,579 single adult males, 493 single adult females, and 337 males with a pregnant spouse. Escalon informed the governor his release of resources secured the weir dam that was the scene of the enormous crossings that brought the camp’s population to more than 15,000 over the weekend. Troopers and guardsmen likewise secured the upriver parts of the Rio Grande west of Del Rio.

The next relocation, the director stated, was for cannon fodders to close down crossings downstream from the encampment.

On Sunday, U.S. and Mexican officials started removal flights of Haitian migrants, Breitbart Texas reported.

DHS authorities informed Breitbart Texas on Tuesday morning that their firm conducted three repatriation flights from Del Rio to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on Sunday. Those flights, performed under Title 42 coronavirus protection protocols carried out by the Centers for Disease Control and Avoidance under the Trump administration, got rid of an overall of 327 Haitian nationals.

On Monday, 2 more repatriation flights moved 233 additional migrants to Haiti.

Of those, officials said 102 of Sunday’s removals were member of the family. Monday’s flights included 128 family members.

He stated DPS troopers and members of the Texas National Guard significantly surpassed Border Patrol agents deployed by U.S. Customs and Border Security officials.
