As they approached a rest area north of the Javier Vega, Jr. Border Patrol checkpoint on U.S. Highway 77 in Kenedy County, a fight broke out among the migrants, Kleberg County Sheriff Richard Kirkpatrick informed Breitbart Texas in a phone interview.

As Border Patrol agents struggled to restore control of the bus, a few of the migrants got away and got away throughout the highway. Constable Kirkpatrick dispatched his deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers to assist the agents in the neighboring county.

“When we get a call of an officer or agent being assaulted, we send out everybody from several firms to help,” Kirkpatrick said.

The sheriff stated 24 of the 29 migrants were Haitians. It is not understood at this time, which migrants were associated with the fight.

The sheriff stated Border Patrol sent 2 buses with security cages to take control of the transport of the migrants.

National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd informed Governor Greg Abbott on the event throughout a meeting in Del Rio on Tuesday. He stated the migrants were being transported from Del Rio to Brownsville.

The Border Patrol union president told Abbott the Haitians are becoming agitated and that tension is increasing after investing almost a week in the encampment under the Del Rio International Bridge. He described that the news of the elimination of Haitian migrants on Title 42 flights to Haiti is contributing to the currently high levels of agitation among the apprehended migrants.

Currently, Border Patrol is apprehending roughly 9,100 migrants under the bridge.
