Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) stated God performed miracles on June 14, 2017, assessing the shooting of Republican politician congressmen at a congressional baseball practice video game in which he was shot.
“I just started to hope,” stated Scalise on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow, author of Breaking the News: Exposing the Facility Media’s Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption. “I’ve got a strong faith, and I simply stated, ‘You know, what? I’m simply going to have a discussion with God, and put it in his hands,’ and as soon as I did it, it’s amazing how calm whatever got, since I genuinely simply didn’t want to go that day.”
Scalise continued, “Very first thing that entered my mind– I’ve got a gorgeous young child, and I stated, ‘God, don’t let Madison have to stroll down the aisle alone.’ I simply had that picture of not being able to stroll my daughter down the aisle when, one day when, she’s in it. Those, those were the important things that were going through my head.”

He included, “I was hearing everything, but it simply [was] type of like I went to another location. [There was] nothing else I might do, so I simply turned it over to God, and young boy, he performed miracles– truly carried out miracles that day.”
Scalise said, “There was a moment, lastly, when I was placed on the helicopter, and it seemed like it was hours– it was most likely perhaps an overall of 30, 40 minutes from when the shooting began to when I got put on a helicopter to be required to the healthcare facility– however I might certainly feel myself beginning to fade.”
Scalise’s blood pressure had become important due to blood loss.

Adrenaline after being shot mitigated the discomfort of his injury at the time, Scalise mentioned. “I surely felt that discomfort later when I came out of the coma and [was] coming out of all these significant surgical treatments, but I didn’t feel that exact same pain on the ball field. Your body just kind of diverts your attention away so that you can focus on surviving.”
Marlow observed how Democrats and the broader left routinely frame the right as the primary political source of domestic terrorism.
“The rhetoric over the last couple of years considering that [the shooting] is that it’s actually right wingers who are the greatest domestic fear threat [which] the most significant danger in regards to physical safety in the country is right-wing radicals,” he said. “I’m not saying that there isn’t any of that– but it simply appears like from your viewpoint, you actually were on the brink of death since of a militant left-wing assassin.”
Scalise responded, “When you’re conservative, you know there’s a double standard, and it’s wrong that there is. It’s simply unfortunate. I always state there’s no location for violence, no matter where it originates from. Clearly there is a lot of well-documented violence that originates from the left. I just speak up versus it anywhere I see it, and I advise individuals that America is constructed on this foundation that you can disagree with each other.”
He concluded, “Regardless of what Prince Harry says, we have actually got an excellent First Change in the United States of America, since it enables us the ability to question federal government, to question leaders, to question each other, however it doesn’t permit you to turn to violence to resolve those disagreements, which’s where plainly some people have a disconnect.
